New Republic Shelter
Artist in Residence Exhibition,
Leitrim Sculpture Centre 2013,
15th March - 4thApril.

For this inaugural rendition of New Republic Walsh examines the public's thoughts on various issues such as constitutional change, citizens's rights and the development and planing of local infrastructure.

The shelter project is the culmination of the process, emerging as a result of the artists exchange with the public and acting on their suggestions and concerns. Here Walsh uses local and recycled materials to construct both sculpture and a response to the publics desire for a bus shelter on the n16 route through the town. During the exhibition the artist will illuminate the various public responses within the project as well as consulting with the local authority and the relevant bodies that have an interest in developing public space.
